Introducing Zionsville Chiropractor Dr. Gerald Whalen

My full name is Gerald Lee Whalen. I was born among the rolling hills of rural southern Wisconsin in the amiable farming town of Darlington.  I had the privilege of attending Palmer College of Chiropractic, the birth place of chiropractic, located in Davenport, Iowa and graduated with honors in 1979. I enjoy stretching and many forms of physical exercise such as running, swimming, skiing etc. to keep energized. I strive for a diet with a high percentage of quality food (organic preferred).

Dr. Gerald Whalen of Zionsville Holistic ChiropracticMy original inspiration to be a chiropractor emerged out of the life transforming miracle of my first chiropractic experience at the age of sixteen.  Several months of rapid growth and weight gain resulted in unrelenting, incapacitating and frightening low back pain. I felt immobilized and my participation in athletics came to a standstill. Absent an obvious injury, the peer pressure to play through the pain was intense.  I felt isolated and abandoned. I agonized over being physically debilitated the rest of my life. Totally distressed, I fervently sought relief from medical and orthopedic specialists to no avail. My hopes were dashed each time. My aunt recommended her chiropractor. Even with a trusted recommendation from her sister, my mother was very reluctant to expose me to a chiropractor and had to defy the medical establishment and society’s view, held at the time, that chiropractic was quackery. The last resort visit to a doctor of chiropractic seemed like a miracle beyond belief. The relief I feverishly sought was almost instantaneous. Much to the contrary of medicine’s and society’s view, the chiropractor knew something about healing the other doctors didn’t. I passionately wanted to know that something too.

I’ve chosen to devote my life to the healing arts because of the joy I feel seeing people change from anguish and despair to relief and happiness.  I am grateful I did so because the lives of people are profoundly changed. Fear and dread are replaced with hope and possibilities.

I believe with all my heart in the principle of alternative healing which is that the very God-given source of our life is the source of our healing. Releasing the barriers to the source of life gives our bodies the ability to heal.

I assumed this clinic in this particular community because it reminds me of my home town in a larger size – friendly and family oriented.  The whole purpose of this clinic is to help people reclaim vitality and wellness thought to be lost. My deepest desire is to inspire you to achieve vibrant levels of health.

What seems to make this practice unique is: the gentle exact chiropractic adjustments; usage of the exact clinical nutrition the body craves; recommending time-tested homeopathy to balance body chemistry and using a very powerful breakthrough system to release extremely damaging emotional stress and tension.

How can I help you with today’s safe and natural chiropractic care? Give us a call. My personal promise to you is to fully use my talents and skills in teaming up with the healer within you to restore vibrant levels of health and vitality.

Dr. Gerald Asks some important questions of interest to Zionsville residents - Chiropractor Zionsville Dr. Gerald Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
How could a child benefit from chiropractic?
Regardless of our age, each of us in Zionsville encounters physical, chemical and emotional stresses that exceed our ability to handle. For newborns, it could be the trauma encountered at birth. For toddlers it could be from learning to walk or ride a bike. Many of the problems we chiropractors see in adults are the result of neglected traumas from childhood.
